What is a steam heat treatment device?
Vapor Heat Treatment System (VHT) is one of the plant quarantine treatment methods applied to fruits and vegetables produced overseas so that they can partially pass the phytosanitary requirements. It is a treatment method used most often when mangos, papayas and dragon fruits are exported from Southeastern Asia to Japan, China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and EU. Vapor Heat Treatment System (VHT) is a sterilization/insecticidal device to eradicate eggs and larvae of fruit flies, which parasitize fruits and vegetables to cause devastating damages at places to which they are transported, while preserving the freshness of the fruits and vegetables by applying steam and heat without using any insecticides. The VHT system of Sanshu Sangyo is called “differential pressure treatment system.” This treatment system uses differential pressure to induce efficient circulation of vapor heat through all in-between spaces among fruits so that each and every individual fruit is continuously, evenly and uniformly exposed to vapor heat atmosphere. Currently, almost all fresh fruits imported to Japan that undergoes VHT are processed with the differential pressure type treatment system.
