HORIKO Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
Productization of glass fiber and carbon fiber reinforced plastics.
Our lineup includes CFRP products in addition to super-insulated FRP and GFRP products such as cabinets, portable tanks, and ship parts. Our products are applied in various fields, ranging from semiconductor manufacturing apparatuses and power plants to electric motorcycles.
[Product description] We can realize productization to match the needs of the customer with our accumulated technology. We can offer lightweight, strong reinforced plastic products as replacements for iron or stainless steel products. We have made trial manufacturing and productization possible in various fields such as ships and semiconductor equipment parts. We are willing to materialize any requirement that the customer might have, whether it is “high precision” or “integration of complex shapes.” [Intellectual property] Production Method for Fiber Reinforced Plastic Molds (Japanese Patent No. 4861666). Portable Fiber Reinforced Plastic Tank (Japanese Patent No. 5399815). Forced Cooling System (Japanese Utility Model Registration No. 3131988).
[Product description] CFRP used in the aerospace industry used to be an advanced material and was quite expensive. This made it difficult for it to be utilized in commercial products. We are trying to reduce the cost of CFRP products through the application of our accumulated technologies, mainly by using the VaRTM molding method. We have already built a dedicated plant near Kumamoto Airport to respond to our customers’ needs in a timely manner. [Intellectual property] Registered trade name: “STEALTH” (Japanese Trade Mark Application: 2013-083437). Registered design: “Chair” (Japanese Design Application: 2013-025036).
[Company strength] We have been manufacturing GFRP products for the past 35 years, mainly as ship parts for Yamaha. We recently started to apply our accumulated know-how to fields other than ship parts. These include semiconductor production equipment, power plants, and electric motorcycles. Our strengths are customized product development for the customer’s needs, and low cost manufacturing that eliminates the middle margin. [Business description] We manufacture and sell glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) products. We are now focusing on how to cut costs for the advanced material carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) (research subsidized by the FY2011 Kumamoto Dream Fund Project). We have also set up a production line that incorporates the VaRTM production method. [Industry] Reinforced plastic product manufacturing [Strength of products/technologies] Products such as semiconductor production equipment and electric motorcycles require a higher level of precision and processing methods that are difficult to follow for conventional FRP processors. It is also critical to select materials with appropriate corrosion and chemical resistance according to how the product is used. We can satisfy various needs from trial manufacturing to mass production thanks to our accumulated know-how and partnerships with material makers. [Representative's message] We have been involved with FRP for 35 years, since the foundation of our company in 1979. We have recently been applying our know-how to various fields other than ship parts so as to cooperate with the Monozukuri craftsmanship of our customers. We established our CFRP production facility in 2013 and decided to expand our GFRP related technologies overseas. This is why we are preparing agreements with overseas companies starting with Thailand, and we intend to use this as an opportunity for greater growth. [Company structure for market development/overseas expansion] Sales, design, development, and quality control functions are integrated in the Kumamoto branch (Chuo-ku, Kumamoto city). This branch functions as a single point of contact so we can respond to our customers’ needs in a speedy manner. We can steadily supply high-quality products at low cost even for domestic mass production and overseas customers. This is because of production at our partner companies in Thailand and Taiwan, where many First-Class FRP Molders (i.e., national qualification holders) work according to our own quality standards. [Awards and media coverage] [Awards] [Media] RRK Kumamoto Broadcasting, “7 Minutes” (September 21, 2012). [Authorization/Certification] 2010: Authorized enterprise under the Kumamoto Prefecture Sub-Leading Enterprise Development Project. [Joint research and development] Associate Professor Ikenaga, Sojo University, for: Recycling of RFP materials using microwaves (from 2008) Development of low cost flame-retardant resin (from 2012) [Factory (domestic)] Kumamoto [Transaction form] Design, product development, OEM contracts, licensing, joint development, consigned manufacturing, and sales of products and materials. [Transaction terms] Closed at the end of the month of delivery, with payment due in cash at the end of the following month.
